About John Debrincat

John Debrincat has over 35 years of experience in business in the Asia Pacific. He is the founder, Managing Director and principle shareholder of eCorner Pty Ltd. He has membership in a number of industry organisations. He is; Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (www.acs.org.au), Member of the Institute of Company Directors, Member of the Australian Institute of Management and represents eCorner as a member of the Australian Information Industry Association and the Internet Industry Association.


He is Chairman and a founding member of the Australian Computer Society Foundation (www.acsfoundation.com.au). This is a non-profit organisation that raises funds for technology research and development, and funds over 900 scholarships for Information Technology students.


He has an active involvement at the University of Sydney, School of Information Technologies where he has been awarded an Honorary Life Governors title and is President of the Foundation for Information Technology.


John is a Founding Director and board member of the International Environmental Weed Foundation (www.iewf.org). It is a non-profit body with a mission of expanding the knowledge of how to control non-indigenous plants and weed plants around the world and is part of the RNC Alliance (Restoring Natural Capital) (www.rncalliance.org).


Also he is a part owner of Gartelmann Hunter Valley Wines. This is one of the largest vineyards in the Lovedale area of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales in Australia.

Career History




John Debrincat was the Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific for Compuware Corporation until December 2003. He was appointed General Manager of Compuware Asia Pacific on its establishment in January 1994 and was appointed to Group managing Director in 1995.  In 1996 John was appointed a corporate Vice President of Compuware. The operation has expanded to eight direct offices in five countries with the addition of Korea.


In 2001 John was appointed to the Corporate Operations Committee of Compuware Corporation reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.


Executive Computing


Prior to Compuware John spent seven years as Director and part owner of Executive Computing, previously the exclusive Compuware distributor for Asia Pacific. John joined Executive Computing in 1987 with the objective of expanding the business to Asia and to extend the product portfolio by adding additional suppliers. From 1987 to 1994 Executive Computing grew to be represented throughout Asia Pacific and with direct operations in four countries.


Cincom Systems Corporation


Before the involvement with Executive Computing and Compuware John spent eleven years with American software and services company Cincom Systems and left Cincom in 1987 to join Executive Computing. During the time with Cincom John held many positions throughout Asia Pacific and was appointed Regional Managing Director in 1984.


NCR Corporation


John’s experience in the Information Technology industry started in 1970 with NCR. John worked application development for NCR until 1973.


Ampol Petroleum


In 1973 he joined Ampol petroleum and was part of a team delivering one of the first IBM IMS mainframe data base systems in Australia. He worked until 1976 in Ampol as a Data Base Administrator and systems analyst.
